Scams Are Everywhere! Stay Informed!

Are you worried about scams?

Are you aware of how to stay safe from bogus emails?

Is your network protected?

There are a lot of scams, viruses, and data breaches going around! It’s important to stay up to date on the latest scams. At Network Services Group, we want you to be mindful of the things going around so you can be proactive. We want you to know how to check to see if you’re receiving emails from an unsolicited source.

Bogus Domain Name Renewals

We’ve seen a lot of this going on lately. People receive an email telling them "This is your Final Reminder… This Notice for: (YourDomain.com) will be terminated on September 11, 2017."

If you look closely, these emails typically say something about being a solicitation, and that you’re under no obligation, but that stuff is usually buried in the fine print.

Don’t be fooled. Don’t believe unsolicited emails. Always check with a known and trusted source first.

We’d much rather have you call or email us to than to sign up for some bogus service that at best will take your money and not provide anything in return, or worse — do something malicious such as steal your personal or bank account information or lock you out of your domain.

Don’t be a victim. Choose to be proactive and learn what you can do to prevent this from happening to your business and personal files. Contact us for technical support in Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas of Brighton, Novi and Livingston, Oakland, and Washtenaw counties. At Network Services Group, we can help you get back on track. Need to restore a back-up? Need help running a scan on an infected machine? We’re your guys to get the job done right the first time!

Imagine if you hire technical support, but they only do half the job. You’ll still be infected with a terrible ransom virus. Get the job done right today by calling for technical support at our Ann Arbor office.

Making sense of Network Security, Data Breaches, and PCI Compliance

We’ve all heard of the Equifax data breach.  We’ve also heard about the WannaCry and other viruses that infect all of your files and cripples your computers.  It’s all over the news, and it seems like not a day goes by when someone doesn’t get hacked.

On the other hand you might be receiving confusing emails from your credit card company telling you that you failed their PCI compliance scan.  Just fill out our 50 page questionnaire and fix these 20 security issues we found on your network and you should be all set, at least until we repeat this process 90 days from now.

These are all related to computer and network security, and you might be asking yourself what you really need to do to protect yourself.

That’s a great question, and something we should all be proactive about.  What’s it going to cost if you if your computers become infected and go down or you lose your data?  What’s your liability if someone breaks in and steals your customer’s personal information?

The biggest mistakes we see in terms of network security are:
  1. Security is only an afterthought.
  2. Not being proactive (no continuity plan to keep things up to date with security patches)
  3. Inadequate backups
  4. Inadequate user training
Protect yourself.  Limit your liability.  Talk to someone who is an expert and experienced with working with small businesses.  We can help – contact us for our free security checklist and recommendations for small businesses.
